The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSK), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), has completed its Internal Compliance Audit, conducted throughout September until 1 October 2026. The audit forms part of the University’s efforts to ensure that the quality of its academic programmes meets the standards established by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

The audit involved six undergraduate programmes at FSSK: Anthropology and Sociology, International Relations, Politics and Government Studies, Development Planning and Management, Social Work, and Industrial Relations and Employment.

The assessment process was conducted in stages, with the involvement of external assessors from several higher education institutions, including Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). The assessment also involved internal assessors from various faculties within UNIMAS.

Throughout the audit, the assessors reviewed various aspects of the management and delivery of the academic programmes, including curriculum, teaching and learning, student assessment, academic staff, facilities, and the implementation of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI). Interview sessions with students and alumni were also conducted to obtain direct feedback on their learning experiences, programme delivery, and the relevance of the programmes to current needs. The assessment process provided an opportunity for the assessors and the Faculty to exchange views and identify areas for improvement to further strengthen the quality and delivery of academic programmes at FSSK.

The audit was carried out through close collaboration among programme coordinators, the Faculty management, academic staff, administrative and support staff, members of the Faculty Quality Management Committee (FQMC), and the Head of the Quality Management and Innovation Unit (UPIK).
FSSK extends its appreciation to all assessors for sharing their expertise and providing constructive feedback. The Faculty also expresses its gratitude to all members of FSSK for their commitment, cooperation, and contributions towards the smooth implementation of the audit process.

The findings and recommendations provided by the assessors will guide the faculty in making further improvements to its academic programmes and maintaining the quality of programme delivery in line with UNIMAS’ commitment to providing high-quality higher education.
