On 20 May 2026, the Industrial Relations and Employment Programme (IREP) proudly marked the commencement of the Occupational Safety and Health Awareness Week 2026 with a successful launching ceremony held at Multimedia Room 1 (BMM 1), Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak. A total of 79 IREP students attended the ceremony together with programme lecturers, Dr Mohd Khairul Nabil bin Mohd Nor Azan, Puan Claudia Anak Jiton, and Encik Josfirin Uding Anak Rangga.

The ceremony commenced with a welcoming address by the Programme Director, Mohamad Zamberee bin Abu Samah, setting the stage for a week dedicated to promoting occupational safety and health awareness. The programme was subsequently officiated by Dr Athirah Binti Azhar, Deputy Dean (Undergraduate), who delivered an inspiring officiating speech and officially launched the programme, igniting a spirit of collective responsibility towards ensuring the success of a series of engaging activities designed to strengthen awareness, knowledge, and appreciation of occupational safety and health.

The ceremony was further enriched by the presence of representatives from Sarawak Metro Sdn. Bhd., Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Social Security Organisation (SOCSO), National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), and Hospital Sentosa, who gathered to witness the official launch and reaffirm a shared commitment towards promoting workplace safety, health, and well-being.

Sincere appreciation was also extended to the Employees Provident Fund and Ibnu Shah’s Company, Lakeview UNIMAS, for their generous sponsorship and invaluable support towards the implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health Awareness Week 2026 programme, contributing meaningfully to the successful execution of its planned activities and initiatives.
