On 19 May 2026, Year 3 students from the Industrial Relations and Employment Programme (IREP) successfully organised the Mental Health Talk Programme 2026 in conjunction with Occupational Safety and Health Awareness Week 2026 at the Auditorium, Perpustakaan Tun Abdul Rahman Ya’kub (PeTARY), UNIMAS. The programme was conducted under the course SSB3134 Occupational Safety and Health Management under the guidance of Mr Awang Mashabi bin Awang Mohamad. A total of 114 IREP students, 30 students from SMK Muara Tuang, and three accompanying teachers participated in this insightful programme aimed at increasing awareness of mental health, stress management, emotional well-being, and practical ways to maintain good mental health.

The programme commenced with an opening speech by Alraniri bin Richard, the Programme Director, followed by an engaging and informative sharing session by Dr Alice Tiong Min Lee, Deputy Director of Hospital Kota Sentosa, entitled “Navigating Mental Health and Stress in the Modern Campus”. Participants gained valuable insights into stress management, emotional resilience, healthy coping strategies, and the importance of seeking help when facing mental health challenges.

The programme provided participants with valuable exposure to mental health awareness, stress management, emotional well-being, and available support services. In line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 (Good Health and Well-being), 4 (Quality Education), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), the programme served as a platform to promote mental health literacy, encourage inclusive discussions, and increase awareness of the importance of seeking support when needed.
