The Faculty of Built Environment (FBE) successfully hosted the Train-the-Trainer (TTT) SMM3 Workshop on 4th to 5th of August 2026 at Dewan Mutiara, DeTAR PUTRA. The two-day workshop was organised through a collaborative effort involving FBE UNIMAS, PROCEL and the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (QS Division), bringing together 44 participants comprising professionals from consultancy firms and property developers, as well as academic staff from public and private universities.

The workshop aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge, understanding and practical application of the Standard Method of Measurement 3 (SMM3), while strengthening the capacity of academics and industry practitioners to effectively interpret and apply SMM3 within their respective professional and academic environments. It also provided an important platform for knowledge transfer and professional engagement between industry practitioners, professional bodies and higher education institutions.
The successful organisation of the TTT SMM3 Workshop demonstrates FBE UNIMAS’s continued commitment to academic excellence, professional development, knowledge transfer and industry engagement. By bringing together academics, industry practitioners and professional representatives under one platform, the workshop contributed towards strengthening the understanding and application of SMM3 while fostering closer relationships within the quantity surveying community.

The TTT SMM3 Workshop concluded on 5 August 2026 with active participation and meaningful engagement from all attendees. The initiative marks another significant step towards strengthening industry–academia collaboration and professional competency, while reinforcing FBE UNIMAS’s role in supporting continuous learning and professional development within the built environment sector.
