KOTA PONTIANAK, INDONESIA – The Institut Teknologi dan Kesehatan (ITEKES) Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Barat, in partnership with Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), successfully hosted an International Webinar and Workshop on Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice (IPECP) on April 27–28, 2026.

The two-day event was designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, emphasizing IPECP as the cornerstone of a resilient healthcare system. In today’s complex medical landscape, this framework is considered an absolute necessity for navigating intricate patient needs and bridging fragmented delivery systems.

Day 1: Expert Insights

The symposium opened in a hybrid format with remarks by the Rector of ITEKES Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Barat, Associate Professor Haryanto, MSN, RN, PhD. The day featured a series of comprehensive webinars led by distinguished global experts, including Professor Dato’ Dr. Sivalingam Nalliah (IMU University, Malaysia), Professor Suriadi, MSN, AWCS, CFC, PhD (ITEKES Muhammadiyah), Dr. Saraswathy Thangarajoo (UNIMAS), and Mdm. Christina Busak (UNIMAS). These sessions focused on how synthesizing diverse clinical perspectives can lead to cohesive, patient-centered solutions.

Day 2: Clinical Simulation

The second day transitioned to immersive, hands-on training held physically at the ITEKES campus. Participants engaged in Simulated Scenario Practices in IPECP led by Mr. Ibi Gibreson (UNIMAS), followed by an advanced session on Simulated Wound Management conducted by Prof. Suriadi. The two-day event concluded with a closing address by Associate Professor Haryanto.

Forging Future Ties

Beyond the academic exchange, the initiative underscored the vital importance of fostering collaboration among healthcare professionals to improve patient safety and elevate standards of care. The event also marked a significant milestone in strengthening the bilateral ties between ITEKES Muhammadiyah and UNIMAS, paving the way for future collaborative research and educational excellence across the region.
