The Centre of Applied & Learning UNIMAS hosted a grand luncheon today to honor the exceptional achievements of the university’s educators. The Teaching Excellence Awards Lunch Appreciation 2023 aimed to commend the outstanding contributions of academics in delivering quality teaching and learning experiences to students. The event, graced by more than 20 Award Recipients and esteemed guests including Profesor Ir Dr Siti Noor Linda Taib, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation), and Dr Kartini Abd Ghani, Director of Centre for Applied Learning and Multimedia, highlighted the commitment of UNIMAS to academic excellence.

Out of 32 nominations received from various faculties and centers, 26 academic staff members were recognised for their remarkable achievements. The recipients were awarded in different categories, including Teaching Award, Excellent Immersive Learning Experience (Blended), Excellent Immersive Learning Experience (Face to Face), Excellent Transformative Teaching Practices, and Excellent Assessment Practices.

Dr. Dayang Kartini binti Abang Ibrahim and Candida Jau Emang were awarded the prestigious Teaching Award. Other notable recipients included Dr. Fadilah binti Siali, Ts. Dr. Chiu Po Chan, Dr. Mohd Sabrun bin Ibrahim, Dr. Dyg Norkhairunnisa binti Abang Zaidel, Associate Professor Dr. Devagi Kanakaraju, Dr. Victoria Jonathan, Dr. Marzie Hatef Jalil, Ahmad Deedat bin Ibrahim, and Nur Rasfina binti Mahyan, among others.

The event also showcased the introduction of the Teaching Excellence System (TES), a technological advancement aimed at enhancing the efficiency of teaching and learning processes. Developed by CALM, TES facilitates record-keeping, information management, and streamlines the application process for Teaching Excellence Awards. This initiative aligns with UNIMAS’s commitment to digital transformation for a sustainable future, as emphasised in the Amanat Naib Canselor 2024.

Expressing optimism, UNIMAS hopes that TES will encourage greater participation from academics, ultimately fostering a culture of innovation in teaching and learning. The university extends congratulations to the TES development team and CALM for their efforts in advancing teaching excellence and preparing future-ready graduates. All awards were presented to the recipients by Profesor Ir Dr Siti Noor Linda Taib; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) and Dr Kartini Abd Ghani, Director of Centre for Applied Learning and Multimedia.

Teaching Award
The recipient receives a plaque and RM1,000.
This award goes to:
