A delegation from the Faculty of Cognitive Sciences and Human Development (FCSHD), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), visited Nanning, China, from September 17 to 20, 2025, to participate in the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and a series of academic engagement activities.

The visit, led by Professor Wan Hashim Wan Ibrahim, Chief Digital Officer (CDO) of UNIMAS, and Dr Hana Hamidi, Dean of FCSHD, aimed to strengthen academic and research collaborations between UNIMAS and leading Chinese institutions, particularly in the areas of artificial intelligence (AI), digital innovation, and human development.

During the visit, the delegation attended the Opening Ceremony Symposium of the China–ASEAN Economic and Trade Cooperation Sub-Forum Dialogue, held at Guangxi University, where regional leaders and scholars exchanged insights on education, innovation, and economic partnership within the ASEAN–China framework.

In addition to CAEXPO, the delegation participated in a Roundtable Exchange Session with the School of Artificial Intelligence, Guangxi University, exploring potential collaborations in academic exchange, student mobility, Global Classroom initiatives, and joint research projects focused on AI, data science, and human–AI interaction. Both institutions expressed a shared vision to expand cross-border learning and foster meaningful opportunities for students to engage in digital-age education.

The proposed mobility initiatives will enable UNIMAS and Guangxi University students to take part in short-term exchange programmes, virtual learning sessions, and collaborative classroom activities designed to cultivate global perspectives and intercultural understanding. The Global Classroom collaboration, in particular, aims to connect students from both universities through shared lectures, virtual interactions, and cultural exchange — preparing them for the opportunities and challenges of an increasingly interconnected digital future.

This visit marks another significant milestone in advancing FCSHD’s internationalisation agenda through strategic partnerships and mobility programmes. It underscores UNIMAS’s commitment to fostering innovation, education, and human development in alignment with the university’s vision of becoming a globally connected institution that empowers knowledge sharing across borders.
