Kota Samarahan, 23 June 2025 – The UNIMAS Medical Society (UNIMED) proudly hosted a significant organisational study visit from Ikatan Mahasiswa Kedokteran Universitas Tanjungpura (IMKU), Indonesia, at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS), UNIMAS. This event marked the first official interaction between the two student organisations, laying the groundwork for stronger regional cooperation and the exchange of best practices in student leadership and organizational structure.

The visit began early in the morning with a short campus tour, giving the UNTAN delegation an overview of UNIMAS and its facilities. It was followed by an official group photoshoot and a welcoming breakfast, creating a friendly and collegial atmosphere.

The opening ceremony included welcoming remarks from Associate Professor Dr. Rekaya Anak Vincent Balang, Deputy Dean (Student Affairs and Alumni) at FMHS UNIMAS, and Dr. Titan Ligita, Deputy Dean at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Tanjungpura. Both speakers emphasised the importance of academic and organisational exchanges in strengthening institutional partnerships and developing future healthcare leaders.

The core of the programme was a formal presentation session where UNIMED and IMKU introduced their organisational structures, key activities, past achievements, and future goals. UNIMED was represented by President Rohiit A/L Baskaran and Honorary Secretary Samuel Tiki Anak George Limping. IMKU’s presentation was led by President Mochammad Fatchol Bary, Vice President Iqlima Gaury Zahwa, and Head of External Relations Tarisha Hasifa Chumaira. This session provided a valuable platform for dialogue, idea exchange, and mutual inspiration in student governance and leadership.

The delegation was then taken on a tour of several key academic and research facilities within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS). This included visits to the Anatomy Museum, the Malaria Research Centre (MRC), and the Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC). These experiences provided guests with a closer look at UNIMAS’s commitment to excellence in medical training, research on tropical diseases, and innovation in public health.

The program concluded around 5:30 PM with a heartfelt closing address by Professor Dr. Asri bin Said, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at UNIMAS. In his remarks, he expressed sincere appreciation to the IMKU delegation and reaffirmed the faculty’s commitment to promoting lasting academic and cultural exchanges.

This inaugural visit not only reinforced the relationship between UNIMED and IMKU UNTAN but also set the stage for future joint initiatives, academic collaborations, and leadership development opportunities. UNIMED aims to continue nurturing this partnership in the coming years, working toward shared excellence and regional unity.
