KOTA SAMARAHAN, 16 April 2025 – Persatuan Teknologi Maklumat (PERTEKMA) from the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FCSIT), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), successfully hosted the AWS AI Workshop 2025, a full-day international-level event designed to equip students with practical skills in artificial intelligence and cloud computing using Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Held at Dewan Pembelajaran, Central Teaching Facilities 1 (CTF1), the workshop was a collaborative effort between FCSIT, AWS Singapore, MY Code Campus, and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) under the MD Premier Digital Tech Institutions (PDTI) initiative.
The event attracted approximately 120 participants, including international students from Bangladesh and China, as well as students from Politeknik Kuching and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), primarily from computing and engineering backgrounds.
Their active participation and curiosity contributed to a vibrant and collaborative workshop atmosphere.

Guided by expert insights from MY Code Campus trainers—Mr. Trevor Lum and Mr. Eric Tai Chi Loong—students had the opportunity to build competence, confidence, and credibility in applying AI-powered cloud solutions. These are skills that not only support their academic development but also enhance their professional profiles.
The workshop aligned closely with UNIMAS’s mission to foster future-ready graduates equipped with industry-relevant knowledge.

In addition to technical learning, the event featured an engaging industry sharing session by Mr. Ashweein Narayanan, Chief Financial Officer of EB Tech, who provided valuable insights into AI adoption in the business world, especially in sustainable solutions.
The event concluded with closing remarks by Professor Dr. Jane Labadin, Dean of FCSIT, celebrating the event’s success and its impact on students’ future career paths.
PERTEKMA’s successful execution of the AWS AI Workshop reflects the faculty’s ongoing commitment to advancing technology education, creating platforms for innovation, and strengthening digital capabilities among students.
