The Polgov Care program, themed “Together We Care,” took place on December 6, 2024, at Pusat Pemulihan Samarahan. This initiative marked an important step in fostering community engagement and inclusivity by bringing together diverse groups, particularly the OKU (Orang Kurang Upaya) community. By designing activities that emphasized teamwork, mutual respect, and shared experiences, the program aimed to break down social barriers and create a welcoming environment for everyone involved. The central objective was to build bridges of understanding while fostering a collective spirit of care and compassion.

The program featured two main activities: gotong-royong (community cleanup) and senam robik (aerobic exercise). The gotong-royong activity was a collaborative effort that involved participants working together to clean and beautify shared spaces at the center. This activity went beyond promoting environmental awareness as it was an opportunity to cultivate teamwork, foster mutual responsibility, and create meaningful interactions between students and the participants.

The senam robik session was also the highlight of the program and a source of great joy for the participants. This lively and inclusive aerobic workout session encouraged everyone to participate, regardless of their abilities. The session was filled with energy, enthusiasm, and laughter, as participants moved together in rhythm, supported by the cheerful atmosphere created by upbeat music and encouraging instructors. Participants shared that the experience was uplifting and empowering, as it allowed them to engage actively while feeling fully included in the group. This activity showcased the transformative power of recreational events in promoting inclusivity and emotional well-being.

The program’s overall success was the result of meticulous planning and strong teamwork among the organizing committee. Minor logistical challenges were quickly addressed, ensuring the event ran smoothly. The inclusive design of the activities allowed everyone, regardless of background or ability, to actively participate and feel valued.

Feedback from participants further emphasized the program’s positive impact. Many spoke of the meaningful connections they made, the lessons they learned, and the happiness they experienced during the activities. The participants, in particular, expressed deep gratitude for the supportive and engaging environment. Their enthusiasm during the senam robik session was a testament to the success of the program’s inclusive approach. Staff at Pusat Pemulihan Samarahan also praised the program, highlighting its role in strengthening community bonds and promoting inclusivity.

Witnessing the smiles, laughter, and energy during the activities especially during the senam robik session was incredibly fulfilling. Seeing the joy and happiness of the participants affirmed the importance of creating inclusive spaces where everyone feels welcome and valued. The event was not just about physical activities but about fostering a spirit of togetherness and breaking down societal barriers.

While the program was a success, there are always areas for improvement. Better coordination with the venue and earlier communication with stakeholders could further streamline future events. Additionally, expanding the variety of activities, such as interactive workshops or creative sessions, could enhance engagement for all participants. Building on the feedback and experiences from this program, I hope to bring even more value to future initiatives.

Polgov Care: Together We Care was a powerful demonstration of how inclusivity and community engagement can bring people together. By creating opportunities for shared experiences, the program succeeded in fostering connections and promoting understanding among diverse groups. The joy and happiness expressed by the participants, especially during the senam robik session, were among the most rewarding aspects of the event. Moving forward, I am committed to expanding the Polgov Care initiative to reach even more people, ensuring that inclusivity and community spirit remain at the heart of everything we do.
