A recent graduate from the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, UNIMAS has made headlines by winning three prestigious awards in a single week.

This remarkable achievement highlights not just academic excellence but also the resilience and adaptability shown during unprecedented times.

Melvin Jangga Rupitan, from the Software Engineering program, is now a graduate student.

He has been awarded the UNIMAS Pro-Chancellor award in the recent UNIMAS 27th Convocation ceremony.

He is also the recipients of the IEEE Computer Society Malaysia Gold Medal Award 2023. This national-level award recognizes his remarkable academic achievements, exemplary leadership, and valuable contributions to communities.

He has also been awarded the Faculty Best Student Award for Extra-Curricular Activities. This award not only recognizes his diligence but also reflects the bright future that he represents.

He continuously immersed himself in various activities, seizing every opportunity that came his way.

This proactive approach was not just about enhancing his academic profile but also about personal growth. He engaged actively in university life, contributing to different projects and initiatives, which accelerated his development both professionally and personally.

Melvin highlights the pivotal role of his support system—friends, family, and lecturers who offered steadfast encouragement and assistance—fundamental to his achievements.

He also express heartfelt gratitude to all those who have been part of his journey, highlighting the endless support, beautiful bouquets, thoughtful gifts, and kind wishes that have been overwhelming yet appreciated.

“When pandemic happened, everything went slow, and I was not doing much for myself at that time. Just as I entered back to university for my seventh and final semester, I know that I will take every opportunity that I see because being a degree student for most is a once in a lifetime experience. Hence, my interest grew in being actively involved in many things and that has accelerated my personal growth.” said Melvin.

Melvin added, “Go out and explore what you want, even if you are on your own, because every day is an opportunity worth taking.”

Melvin’s story of resilience, ambition, and academic success, culminating in a week of triple triumphs, stands as a beacon of inspiration for students everywhere.
