Jakarta, 31 July 2026 – The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), strengthened its international academic network through a strategic discussion with Universitas Esa Unggul, Jakarta, exploring opportunities for stronger academic and research collaboration.

 UNIMAS delegations were represented by:

The discussion focused on expanding postgraduate education through Open and Distance Learning (ODL). Both institutions explored the possibility of developing a flexible postgraduate study pathway structured over three semesters with 36 credits, providing greater accessibility for working professionals and international students.

Both universities expressed interest in establishing matching research grant in research collaborations. The meeting also explored opportunities for student mobility programmes, allowing students to gain international academic exposure, experience different learning environments, and strengthen cross-cultural understanding.

Another potential area of collaboration is the appointment of academics as external examiners, particularly for postgraduate programmes. This initiative would promote academic benchmarking, knowledge exchange, and quality enhancement through the sharing of expertise between both institutions.

The engagement reflects the shared commitment of FEB UNIMAS and Universitas Esa Unggul to strengthen academic networks particularly in postgraduate programmes, ODL, research, and student mobility. The discussion marks another positive step towards building a sustainable partnership between both universities.
