KUCHING , 22 November 2025 — A community health programme was held in collaboration with the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) to provide health screening and health education for 70 of its clients. The programme was organised following a request from AADK officers, who shared that many clients avoid seeking medical care due to stigma and fear of being judged.

According to AADK rehabilitation officer Lalang Buges, clients rarely visit health facilities unless accompanied or supported. The agency hoped the programme would help them access basic health checks in a safe and encouraging environment. The event was organised by the Postgraduate Student Association (PGMED), Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UNIMAS, and supported by Pejabat Kesihatan Bahagian Kuching and Sarawak AIDS Concern Society (SACS).

The programme began at 8.00 a.m. with registration, followed by a health screening session. Participants were screened for blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, mental health status, and infectious diseases such as HIV and hepatitis as described in the programme plan. Several short talks were delivered throughout the morning, including balanced nutrition, safe sexual practices, and stress management. These were conducted by officers from the Kuching Health Office and SACS.

The event ended with a photo session. The programme aimed to give clients easier access to health services, increase awareness about preventive care, and reduce stigma that often stops former drug users from seeking help. Organisers hope similar initiatives will continue to support recovery and reintegration into the community.
