The Seminar on Cognition and Artificial Intelligence 2025 (SoCo-AI’25), organised by the Faculty of Cognitive Sciences and Human Development (FCSHD), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), concluded successfully after two days of engaging discussions, forums, and workshops held on 22–23 October 2025 at PITAS, UNIMAS.
The seminar was officiated by YBhg. Prof. Dr Wan Hashim bin Wan Ibrahim, Chief Digital Officer of UNIMAS, and drew more than 200 participants, including university officers, students, and representatives from both government and private sectors.
With the theme “Reimagining the Future of AI: A Collaborative Approach,” SoCo-AI’25 emphasised the importance of AI in enhancing efficiency, innovation, and the application of smart technologies across various sectors. It also served as a platform for experts, researchers, and students to exchange knowledge and ideas on the role of AI and human cognition in advancing education, leadership, and organisational development

The programme was made possible through the collaboration of strategic partners, including the UNIMAS Chief Digital Officer’s Office, UNIMAS Business School, and TVS.
The event also received strong support from the UNIMAS Leadership Center (ULC), TalentCorp, BWS Engineering Sdn. Bhd., the Leadership Institute of Sarawak Civil Service, and Business Events Sarawak (BE Sarawak), Sarawak Convention Bureau.
This initiative aligns with the university’s aspiration to strengthen its research culture, foster critical thinking, and promote digital technology adoption in nurturing a competitive, knowledge-driven, and innovative generation of future leaders.

SoCo-AI’25 represents UNIMAS’s continuing efforts to strengthen its research culture, promote critical thinking, and encourage digital technology adoption among its academic community. The seminar demonstrated how cross-disciplinary initiatives can spark innovation at the intersection of cognition and artificial intelligence—advancing UNIMAS’s mission to inspire ideas, research, and partnerships that contribute to an intelligent and inclusive future.
