On May 29, 2024, the Faculty of Engineering at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak hosted two industry speakers, Mr. Clement Sim from Sarawak Microelectronics Design and Mr. Bert Parmentier from MELEXIS. They presented “Beyond the Silicon: Career Pathways in IC Design and IC Test Solution Development” at Dewan Kuliah, Central Teaching Facilities 1.
The presentation highlighted two career pathways available through a collaboration between Sarawak Microelectronics Design, MELEXIS, and CENTEXS Sarawak. These pathways are Track 1: Analog Integrated Circuits Design and Track 2: Integrated Circuits Test Solution Development, both offered as 6-month graduate training programs at CENTEXS, facilitated by Sarawak Microelectronics Design and MELEXIS. The talk was attended by 96 students from Years 2 to 4 in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak.
