The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) successfully organized a half-day research workshop titled “From Concept to Publication: Navigating Medical Research.” The event, which drew over 50 enthusiastic participants, aimed to empower medical researchers, academics, and students with essential skills for every stage of the research journey.

The workshop kicked off with welcoming remarks and featured a series of insightful talks from esteemed experts in the field. Topics covered included navigating the National Medical Research Register (NMRR) application by Dr. Melissa Binti Mohammad Hirman, medical and research ethics by Prof Dr. Mohammad Zulkarnaen bin Ahmad Narihan, and academic writing and publishing by Prof Dr. Cheah Whye Lian. Participants also gained valuable insights into qualitative research from Dr. Chen Ai Ling and ethical and legal challenges in clinical studies from PM Dr. Dayang Suhana binti Abg. Madzhi.

A highlight of the event was the soft launching of a new research book titled “Health and Heritage: Unveiling the Dayak Community’s Journey Through Nutrition and Well-being in Sarawak.” This significant publication, edited by Prof Dr. Cheah Whye Lian and Ayu Akida Abdul Rashid, sheds light on the unique nutritional and health experiences of the Dayak community. The soft launch celebrated the collaborative effort of numerous authors and contributors dedicated to preserving and understanding this vital aspect of Sarawak’s heritage.  🛒 Interested in getting a copy?
