
The Department of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak successfully conducted a Clinical Preceptorship Workshop at Normah Medical Specialist Centre on 1–2 April 2026. The program involved 26 staff nurses from NMSC and aimed to enhance clinical teaching, preceptorship skills, and professional development in a hospital setting.

Among the speakers from UNIMAS was AP Dr. Rekaya Vincent Balang, who delivered an engaging session on organizational culture, quality oversight, and the transition from professional practice to independent clinical roles. His talk highlighted the importance of aligning preceptorship practices with institutional culture to ensure quality patient care.
Mdm Dayang Zuraina binti Abang Haji Kashim emphasized that the workshop represents a collaborative effort between higher education institutions and the healthcare industry to enrich the clinical experience of nursing students and newly qualified nurses.


The workshop was officiated by Mdm Hajah Nadzrah binti Basri, Director of Nursing at NMSC, who shared her insights:
“We hope this program will benefit our staff by strengthening their competencies and supporting continuous lifelong learning in the clinical setting. Enhancing knowledge, skills, and professional growth is vital to providing excellent patient care.”
The event marks another milestone in the partnership between UNIMAS and healthcare providers, ensuring nursing education remains responsive to the evolving demands of clinical practice.
