LUNDU/KANOWIT, 7 Dec — A series of dynamic Youth IR4.0 Mobile Apps Development workshops has sparked excitement and innovation among young participants in the rural regions of Lundu and Kanowit.
Held on 6 and 7 December 2025, the programme drew enthusiastic youth aged 15 to 40, with a majority of participants between 15 and 16 years old.
Organized by the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FCSIT) and sponsored by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak, the workshops aimed to introduce fundamental skills in mobile application development.
Five dedicated lecturers facilitated the sessions across three venues: Pusat Nadi Pekan Kanowit, Pusat Nadi Ng Ngungun, and Pusat Nadi Lundu.
Through guided, hands-on activities, participants learned to design and develop simple mobile applications tailored to their needs and interests.

Many were quick to pick up new skills, transforming ideas into functional app prototypes within a single day of training.
Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with students expressing how enjoyable and eye-opening the learning experience was.
Several participants shared their plans to teach their peers what they learned, reflecting the programme’s wider impact on digital literacy in rural communities.
The sessions in Kanowit also saw participants transported from nearby Rumah Panjang to Pusat Nadi Ng Ngungun, ensuring inclusive access to digital education.

As Sarawak accelerates its digital transformation agenda, initiatives like these play a crucial role in nurturing tech-savvy youth and empowering underserved communities with IR4.0 skills.
