Kota Samarahan, 14 January 2025 – The Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FCSIT) at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) marked a significant milestone by hosting its first-ever program review for the Master in Computer Science (MCS) program with an External Advisor.

The faculty was honored to welcome Associate Professor Ts Dr Nor Hazlyna Harun, Master Program Chairman from the School of Computing, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), who served as the External Advisor for the review process.
The evaluation was conducted in accordance with the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) accreditation requirements, focusing on seven key areas outlined in the Code of Practice for Programme Accreditation (COPPA).
During her assessment, Dr. Nor Hazlyna provided valuable insights and recommendations to enhance the MCS program.
Dr. Nor Hazlyna highlighted the need for continuous curriculum updates to keep pace with rapid technological advancements and industry demands.
She recommended integrating cutting-edge topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Large Language Models (LLM), Deep Learning, Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain, Data Mining and Advanced Python Programming
Recognizing the increasing reliance on real-world applications in computing, she emphasized the importance of equipping graduates with practical skills that align with current and future industry trends.
FCSIT welcomes these constructive inputs and is committed to refining the MCS program to ensure graduates remain competitive in the evolving technology landscape. This first-ever external review marks a crucial step toward achieving academic excellence and industry relevance.
