FSSH’s Gen Z Series entitled Forum Bicara Isu-Isu Semasa Politik Malaysia dari Perspektif Gen Z was successfully held on 19 November 2024. The program aimed to provide a platform for Generation Z to engage with and understand current political issues in Malaysia. Held in a hybrid format where we do Live Streaming from Tiktok and Instagram and in the FSSH Conference Room, the forum attracted participants from diverse backgrounds, reflecting the interest and concern of youths toward political development. Distinguished panelists and a skilled moderator guided the discussions, fostering an environment of intellectual exchange.

The forum began with a keynote session that outlined the importance of youth involvement in politics, emphasizing their role in shaping Malaysia’s future. This was followed by an interactive panel discussion featuring topics such as the impact of politics and economy on political awareness, challenges faced by Gen Z in engaging with politics, and strategies for enhancing youth participation. The audience actively participated during the Q&A session, posing insightful questions and sharing their views.

Despite some challenges, the program ran smoothly thanks to effective teamwork and contingency planning from the organiser (Third Year students from Politics & Government Program). The hybrid format allowed both physical and virtual attendees to benefit from the discussion, ensuring inclusivity. The organizing committee’s attention to detail was evident in the seamless coordination of activities and the prompt resolution of issues.

Prof Datu Dr Neilson Ilan Mersat & Dr Leha Saliman were the advisors for the Forum

The program concluded with a collective call to action, urging participants to remain informed and take proactive steps in addressing political issues. Feedback from participants highlighted the relevance of the topics discussed and the effectiveness of the speakers. This forum not only achieved its goal of raising awareness but also inspired attendees to become active contributors to the nation’s political landscape.

Overall, the forum served as a vital stepping stone for bridging the gap between Gen Z and political engagement, laying the groundwork for more youth-driven initiatives in the future. The success of this program underscores the importance of continuous dialogue and collaboration in building a politically aware and responsible generation.
