Pontianak, Indonesia – After months of meticulous planning and overcoming various challenges, the Human Resource Development (HRD) Global Adventure 2024 program finally commenced, marking a significant milestone for UNIMAS HRD students as they embrace the opportunity to establish global connections. In collaboration with the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Tanjungpura (UNTAN), this journey from March 6th to 10th signifies a dedicated effort towards fostering international cooperation.

The opening ceremony, held on March 7th, 2024, was graced by esteemed guests including Dr. M. Irfani Hendri, S.E., M.Si., UNTAN’s Vice Rector of General and Financial Fields, and Dr. Barkah, S.E., M.Si., Dean of FEB UNTAN, accompanied by Dr. Helma Malini, Manager of International Class and International Affairs, FEB UNTAN. The UNIMAS delegation, comprised of Mr. Mohd Hafizan Bin Hashim, Faculty of Cognitive Sciences and Human Development (FCSHD) Deputy Dean of Students Affairs and Alumni, Mdm. Sheilla Lim Binti Omar Lim, the HRD Program Coordinator, and Mr. Helmi Bin Sumilan, the HRD Club Advisor.

The ceremony commenced with heartfelt greetings and enlightening speeches delivered by representatives from both UNTAN and UNIMAS, as well as by the HRD Global Adventure programme director, Dayang Errysha Zaffira. Themed “Diversity and Culture,” the ceremony showcased rich heritage through traditional attire and culinary traditions. Participants indulged in cultural exchanges, with HRD UNIMAS students presenting their local Sarawakian dish, Kolo Mee, and UNTAN students offering their signature Cendol. This ceremony not only marked the beginning of a partnership between FCSHD UNIMAS and FEB UNTAN but also highlighted the commitment of both institutions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This event, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 – Quality Education and SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, offered participants a holistic experience focusing on education and well-being.

Under the umbrella of SDG 4, participants delved into lecture sessions and sharing sessions, highlighting the significance of maintaining a balance between academic pursuits and extracurricular activities. These sessions provided valuable insights promoting personal growth, practical skills, critical thinking, and fostering an appreciation for diversity among the attendees.

Furthermore, in line with SDG 3, a fun run was organized, offering participants the opportunity to explore the scenic campus of UNTAN while promoting physical activity and interaction among the delegations. This initiative not only encouraged participants to prioritize their health and well-being but also facilitated meaningful connections and exchanges among them.

However, the journey back to UNIMAS took an unexpected turn as transportation breakdown tested the resilience and adaptability of the participants. Despite the challenges, this experience served as a profound reminder of the importance of preparedness and teamwork in the face of adversity.

As the HRD Global Adventure 2024 concludes, participants reflect on the transformative experiences shared during this journey, solidifying bonds and fostering a sense of unity amidst diverse backgrounds. Though the adventure may have come to an end, the connections forged and lessons learned will endure, shaping future endeavors with newfound resilience and determination.
