On 21st November 21, 2023, 4th Year Strategic Communication Programme students from the Faculty of Education, Language and Communication organized a campaign called “Cyberbully Among Secondary Students” at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Lundu.  The purpose of the campaign is to raise awareness regarding the issue of bullying taking place online on social media platforms through using smartphones and other devices among Form Two students from classes 2A6, 2A8 and 2A9 of SMK Lundu.

“I am feeling grateful that an outside organization is shedding light on the issue of cyberbullying among our students,” said Mohammad Azizan Madihi, Principal of SMK Lundu.  “Maybe the repeated reminders about cyberbullying from the teachers made it common for students to hear, but when there is a campaign by an outside organization like this, it makes the learning environment even more interesting and engaging, making the students understand the topic much easier and getting the students to discuss the issue”, he added.

In addition, he mentions that the school too organizes events like language workshops for various languages like Bahasa Melayu, English, Bahasa Iban, Mandarin, “Program Baca Buku”, poster drawing contests, mural painting, poem writing and many more involving all students of SMK Lundu.

As a closing note, Mohammad Azizan Madihi would welcome campaigns like these to be done again with even more students involved in order to promote a safe and supportive environment, nurture positive relationships, and prepare students for responsible digital citizenship.
