A delegation of four staff members and twelve students from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) is set to participate in a five-day mobility programme in Xi’an, China.
This mobility initiative is organised in collaboration between UNIMAS Global and the Consulate General of Malaysia in Xi’an, reflecting a shared commitment to cultural diplomacy and educational exchange. As part of this collaboration, the delegation has also been invited to perform at the National Day and Malaysia Day Reception, which will be held at the Shangri-La Hotel, Xi’an on 12 September 2025.
The delegation is led by Mr Noor Azrul Mohd Ariff from Badan Budaya UNIMAS (BAYU), accompanied by three other BAYU members, and joined by twelve students representing various faculties at UNIMAS.
Throughout the programme, the delegation will engage in a series of activities including a cultural workshop to showcase Malaysia’s diverse arts and dance, a visit to the UNIMAS Learning Centre in Xi’an, as well as several cultural exchange sessions designed to strengthen ties and promote cross-cultural understanding.
In expressing his appreciation, Professor Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit, Vice Chancellor of UNIMAS, said:
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency Lum Wan Liang, Consul General of Malaysia in Xi’an, for facilitating this programme and for his kind invitation to perform at the National Day and Malaysia Day Reception. This opportunity not only recognises the talents of our staff and students but also provides a platform for UNIMAS to share Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage with the international community.”
This initiative reflects UNIMAS’ continuous commitment to promoting Malaysia’s cultural diversity on the global stage while creating transformative international experiences for its students and staff. It also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), by advancing global learning, intercultural understanding, and meaningful international collaboration.
