Kuching, Sarawak, 3–9 August 2025 – Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), through its Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FCSIT), successfully hosted the BIMP-EAGA Knowledge Bridge 2025, a week-long initiative aimed at strengthening cross-border collaboration in education and research under the theme “Empowering Education and Research Through Mobility.”

The program brought together eight international delegates from Indonesia and Singapore, supported by 10 UNIMAS student liaison officers. The activities balanced academic engagement, cultural immersion, and community outreach, reflecting the spirit of regional solidarity that defines the BIMP-EAGA initiative.

Throughout the week, delegates participated in a rich mix of activities.

At UNIMAS, they toured the campus, engaged with research clusters, and gained valuable insights during an AI Workshop delivered by Mr. Muhammad Usman, AI Integration Lead at Embedded LLM, Singapore.

They also took part in two major international conferences, CITA 2025 and IALP 2025 held at the Borneo Cultures Museum, where they presented research and exchanged ideas with global experts in digital innovation, artificial intelligence, and language technology.

Beyond academic exchanges, delegates experienced Sarawak’s cultural diversity through visits to the Sarawak Cultural Village and a scenic Kuching Waterfront river cruise.

Community engagement was another highlight, as participants collaborated with villagers from Kampung Muhibbah on a clean-up project, attended a cybersecurity talk, and explored creativity and innovation at Makeramai Makerspace.

The week concluded with the AI Makers Workshop at UNIMAS, where participants acquired practical, hands-on experience in generative AI, reinforcing the program’s mission to advance digital literacy and innovation across the region.

The closing session reaffirmed delegates’ shared commitment to continued collaboration in education, innovation, and community development.

The BIMP-EAGA Knowledge Bridge continues to serve as a vital regional platform, connecting academics, researchers, and communities across borders to promote knowledge sharing, cultural exchange, and sustainable development.
