From 28 to 30 April 2025, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), was invigorated with creativity, innovation, and meaningful engagement through the successful implementation of Pameran Mahasiswa Bitara, one of the key subprogrammes under the Festival of Social Sciences and Humanities (FOSSH) 2025. The exhibition, held at the Ground Floor of FSSH, was organised by the Industrial Relations and Employment Club (IREC), Session 2024/2025, in collaboration with the Social Sciences and Humanities Student Association (PSSK).

More than ten organisations took part in the exhibition, demonstrating strong cross-sectoral support for student development. Among the key participants were Sarawak Energy Berhad, Teratak Kasih, Jabatan Tenaga Kerja Sarawak, Kumpulan Wang Simpanan Pekerja (KWSP), Pejabat PERKESO Negeri Sarawak, Sarawak AIDS Concern Society (SACS), Angkatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia (APM) Bahagian Samarahan, HRD Corp, Ecz Soap, and Borneo Kinetics Sdn. Bhd. In addition, various vendors, including those from the UNIMAS Entrepreneurship Centre (UEC), contributed to the vibrant atmosphere by offering services and delicacies that further enhanced participant engagement.

The involvement of these organisations greatly enriched the exhibition’s central objective of bridging academic insight with real-world industry exposure. Far beyond a conventional display, the programme successfully integrated elements of career readiness, health awareness, and entrepreneurial learning, reflecting UNIMAS’s strategic commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—in particular, SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure).

As part of the exhibition, a special focus was also placed on career development and health awareness, reinforcing the university’s holistic approach to student well-being. The Career and Health Awareness component provided students with access to industry representatives, recruitment officers, and training providers, offering guidance on career pathways, internships, and employability. Simultaneously, the health segment of the programme raised awareness on physical and mental well-being through health screenings, wellness talks, and lifestyle education, demonstrating alignment with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being.

Pameran Mahasiswa Bitara proved to be a highly impactful initiative, advancing student development through experiential learning, cross-sectoral collaboration, and values-driven education. It not only highlighted the creative potential and versatility of UNIMAS students but also reaffirmed the university’s role as a transformative space for nurturing future-ready graduates. Heartfelt congratulations are extended to the organising committee, participating agencies, and all students involved for their outstanding contributions in making this event a benchmark for future student-led engagement initiatives at UNIMAS.
