KOTA SAMARAHAN, SARAWAK – Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) has achieved a historic milestone by securing the 1st Place Award for Best Institute of Higher Learning (IHL) Institution 2025, a prestigious national recognition presented by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) under the Ministry of Digital Malaysia. This achievement positions UNIMAS as a national leader in advancing digital entrepreneurship and innovation within higher education.
The award serves as a strong validation of UNIMAS’ strategic and forward-looking approach in nurturing digitally competent graduates. It represents a direct continuation of the university’s outstanding performance in 2024, during which UNIMAS successfully achieved a 100% fulfilment of the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) Entrepreneurship Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This achievement has since translated into sustained excellence and expanded institutional impact throughout 2025.
Central to this success is the maturity of the UNIMAS Student Affairs and Alumni (HEPA) entrepreneurship ecosystem, which is anchored in structured governance, integrated programme delivery, and a clear strategic direction aligned with Malaysia’s digital economy agenda.
