Kota Samarahan, 11 December 2025 — The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), proudly hosted an international mobility visit from Universitas OSO (UNOSO), Pontianak, Indonesia on 7 and 8 August 2025. The two-day programme highlighted community service, academic benchmarking, and knowledge sharing aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Day 1: CSR Outreach at SK Temong, Tebedu – Promoting Quality Education (SDG 4)

The mobility programme began on 7 August 2025 with a joint Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative at SK Temong, Tebedu, Sarawak. Representatives from both UNIMAS and UNOSO were warmly welcomed by school officials during the opening ceremony.

The highlight of the day was the Book Donation Programme, aimed at enriching the school’s reading resources and nurturing literacy among primary school students. This initiative strongly supports SDG 4: Quality Education, promoting inclusive and equitable learning opportunities for young learners in rural communities.

The CSR activity also encouraged cross-cultural interaction between both universities and the local community, strengthening the spirit of cooperation and educational upliftment.

Day 2: Benchmarking, Campus Engagement & Library Visit – Supporting Partnerships for Goals (SDG 17)

On 8 August 2025, the UNOSO delegation visited the Faculty of Economics and Business, UNIMAS, for a benchmarking session designed to exchange best practices in teaching, research, and faculty development.

The meeting opened with a welcoming session by FEB UNIMAS, followed by discussions on academic programmes, internationalisation strategies, and future mobility opportunities. This aligns with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, reinforcing regional cooperation between Malaysia and Indonesia.
After the benchmarking session, the delegation was given a UNIMAS campus tour, allowing them to explore the university’s learning facilities, student hubs, and vibrant campus environment.

The visit concluded with a trip to the Sarawak State Library (Pustaka Negeri Sarawak), where guests were introduced to the library’s digital infrastructure, knowledge services, and community-driven learning initiatives.

Strengthening Educational & Regional Collaboration

The successful two-day mobility programme provided valuable experiences for both institutions, strengthening academic ties and creating meaningful community impact.

“This visit not only promotes academic collaboration but also encourages shared responsibility in supporting education and community development,” a UNIMAS representative noted.

UNIMAS and UNOSO look forward to expanding joint initiatives in mobility, research, community engagement, and sustainable development.
