The Persatuan Mahasiswa Fakulti Sains Kognitif dan Pembangunan Manusia (PMFSKPM), the student association of the Faculty of Cognitive Sciences and Human Development, marked a significant milestone at the Majlis Apresiasi Gemilang Mahasiswa (MEGAH) 2025, held on 15 December 2025, reaffirming its standing as one of the leading faculty-based student representative bodies at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).

Competing at the university level alongside faculties and student organisations across UNIMAS, PMFSKPM distinguished itself through robust organisational governance, impactful student-led initiatives, and consistent leadership throughout the 2024/2025 session. Under the stewardship of the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs and Alumni (TD HEPA), Faculty of Cognitive Sciences and Human Development (FCSHD), these efforts culminated in the receipt of four prestigious awards, including recognition for excellence in faculty-level student representation, social development through job-on-campus and job-on-faculty initiatives, and outstanding volunteer leadership in both community well-being and environmental stewardship.

The Best Pembangunan Sosial (Penghasilan Job-on-Campus / Job-on-Faculty) award was conferred upon FSKPM Niaga, a student-driven initiative focused on economic empowerment, job creation, and entrepreneurial skill development. The programme provides employment opportunities for students, including those from B40 backgrounds, while offering affordable food options to the faculty community. Profits generated are reinvested into the PMFSKPM Student Fund to support future student activities, exemplifying a sustainable and inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem aligned with SDG 3, SDG 4, and SDG 8.

PMFSKPM also received the Best Kepimpinan Sukarelawan (Kesejahteraan Komuniti) award through the FCSHD CARE initiative, which mobilised volunteers and resources to assist flood-affected communities in Samarahan. The programme demonstrated effective coordination, strong community engagement, and a high level of social responsibility, underscoring the faculty’s commitment to humanitarian outreach.

The highlight of the ceremony was PMFSKPM’s recognition as the Best Jawatankuasa Perwakilan Fakulti (JPF), acknowledging its effectiveness in student representation, organisational management, and administrative governance. Throughout the session, PMFSKPM demonstrated structured and accountable leadership through systematic documentation, comprehensive programme planning, mobility initiatives, and community engagement at both national and international levels.

Collectively, the awards received at MEGAH 2025 reflect PMFSKPM’s holistic leadership approach—balancing governance excellence, social empowerment, volunteerism, and sustainability—while reinforcing its contribution to UNIMAS’ mission of developing well-rounded, socially responsible, and future-ready graduates.

In his remarks, Mr Mohd Hafizan Bin Hashim, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs and Alumni, expressed confidence that this achievement sets a strong benchmark and serves as a valuable reference for the PMFSKPM 2025/2026 session.

The Faculty of Cognitive Sciences and Human Development extends its congratulations to PMFSKPM for its sustained excellence, accountability, and dedication to service.
