BINTULU, 9 December 2025 — Organized by UNIMAS Business School (UBS), a specialized training programme led by Ts. Syahrul Nizam Junaini from the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FCSIT) was conducted for senior managers of the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) at the Promenade Hotel, Bintulu.

The full-day session focused on advancing leadership capabilities in an era increasingly shaped by Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The programme introduced participants to emerging AI tools and demonstrated how these technologies can strengthen decision-making, enhance productivity, and support process innovation.

Through guided hands-on learning activities, BDA top managers learned to apply AI-driven analysis for managerial decisions and report writing.

These skills are intended to improve operational efficiency and enhance the quality of service delivery.

The training also emphasized the importance of cultivating a data-informed leadership culture within public-sector organizations.

Fifteen participants explored how AI can assist in policy formulation and project planning, enabling leaders to respond more effectively to complex administrative and developmental challenges.

In addition to hands-on demonstrations, the session addressed key considerations for AI adoption, including institutional readiness.

These discussions underscored the need for continuous capacity development to ensure that public agencies can fully leverage emerging AI technologies strategically.

According to Ts. Syahrul, the goal of the training is to equip senior leaders with practical frameworks and tools for integrating AI into everyday decision processes.

This, he noted, will support BDA’s broader mission to modernize governance practices and accelerate its transition toward sustainable digital excellence in alignment with the goals of the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

By enabling managers to utilize AI effectively, the training positions BDA to pursue more efficient operations, evidence-based governance, and innovative public-service outcomes in the years ahead.
