On October 31, 2025, the Industrial Relations and Employment Club (IREC) 2025/2026 Session had duly executed an award ceremony named “Industrial Relations and Employment Programme Students’ Achievement Award Ceremony 2025 with Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) Sarawak Division”. This ceremony is a meaningful ceremony as it was held to honour IREP alumni who had demonstrated excellent performance in academic and leadership commitment throughout their three years of study. Joining the event were the High Committees of MTUC Sarawak, lecturers of the Industrial Relations and Employment Programme, the recipients and their parents, and also 14 committee members of IREC in ensuring the smooth running of the event.

The event was further honoured by the attendance of three honorary guests from the Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) Sarawak Division, which includes the chairman, Tuan Haji Zaidi bin Nasar, Puan Chung Fui San, the Secretary, and Puan Siti Marianne Mohamad Zaidi, the Treasurer. Programme Coordinator, Dr Mohd Khairul Nabil bin Mohd Nor Azan, began with an opening speech that highlighted the ceremony’s purpose, specifically to recognise not only the students’ academic performance but also their relentless spirit and motivation throughout their three years of studies. Following this, MTUC Sarawak Division Chairman, Tuan Haji Zaidi bin Nasar, took the opportunity to express his gratitude for the invitation, publicly praising the students’ dedication and hard work, further encouraging other IREP students to pursue well in their studies and upgrade their interpersonal skills that are crucial for today’s generation.

The highlight of the event was the award presentation ceremony given to Hee Loong Fei (Holistic Excellence Award) and Nur Farawahida Binti Abd Khalil (Togetherness and Unity Award). Both whom will be graduating at the 29th UNIMAS Convocation Ceremony scheduled on the 5th of November 2025. The award was presented by the Chairman, Tuan Haji Zaidi and witnessed by Dr Mohd Khairul Nabil as the PC to the two students for their remarkable achievements during their three years of studies.

This historical ceremony emphasised students’ proactiveness not just in UNIMAS, but also in activities conducted by organisations outside of UNIMAS as well. It is known that both award recipients excelled in their academic and curricular activities. The ability to juggle between studies and activities has made them to have strong discipline in time management, which earned them the award given to them. The closing ceremony brought together proud award recipients along with their parents, the distinguished MTUC leadership, dedicated IREP lecturers, and supportive IREP committee members, reflecting a strong partnership that continues to strengthen academic-industry engagement.
