KOTA SAMARAHAN, Sept 29 – Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), under the leadership of the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Prof. Jane Labadin, hosted a delegation from the Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS) and its strategic partners AWS, Schlumberger, Huawei, Keysight, and Solarvest.
The collaboration between CENTEXS and UNIMAS focuses on enhancing student learning through professional and industry-based competency training and certification.

In her welcoming remarks, Prof. Jane Labadin said she was delighted to host CENTEXS and its partners at UNIMAS, adding that the engagement created opportunities for students, researchers, and staff to learn from global technology leaders, while opening pathways for future collaboration in innovation, digital transformation, and talent development in Sarawak and beyond.
The CENTEXS delegation was led by Dayang Hanani Abang Ibrahim, Acting Director of the CENTEXS Digital Academy.
Among those present were academic staff and researchers from FCSIT and the Faculty of Engineering, as well as FCSIT students.
The discussion touched on opportunities in areas such as artificial intelligence, smart energy solutions, digital infrastructure, and cloud-based applications.
The presence of AWS, Schlumberger, Huawei, Keysight, and Solarvest underscored the importance of strategic partnerships in advancing research, technology transfer, and sustainable development.
The engagement highlighted the value of cross-sector collaboration and reaffirmed UNIMAS’s readiness to face future challenges through innovation and knowledge exchange.
The event concluded with optimism for stronger partnerships that will benefit not only the university community but also the broader digital and industrial ecosystem in Sarawak.
