Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) continues to demonstrate its commitment to the internationalisation of higher education with another global achievement by its student.
Darren Thaddeus Rengga Anak Hillaby, a final year student from the Faculty of Engineering, pursuing the Chemical Engineering programme at UNIMAS, has been awarded the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Scholarship to pursue his Master’s studies under the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Programme. He will undertake his postgraduate studies at Politechnika Warszawska (Warsaw University of Technology), Poland. Darren is one of only fifteen Malaysians selected for this highly competitive scholarship in 2025, underscoring the quality and calibre of scholars recognised by the programme.
The Erasmus Mundus Programme is one of the European Union’s flagship initiatives that supports academic excellence, cultural exchange, and collaboration between Europe and the wider world. Being selected under this programme reflects not only Darren’s individual achievement, but also the strength of education and international exposure cultivated at UNIMAS.

YBhg. Professor Dr Haji Ahmad Hata Rasit, Vice Chancellor of UNIMAS, congratulated Darren on his success and highlighted that this achievement illustrates the university’s continuous efforts to expand opportunities for students and graduates to participate in global academic networks.
