Our recent mobility trip to Sintang, Indonesia, was an unforgettable cultural exchange filled with meaningful encounters, new friendships, and powerful lessons. Over six days, we immersed ourselves in the traditions of the Dayak community at Rumah Betang Ensaid Panjang, experienced the art of kain tenun, and shared stories with the warm and welcoming people of Sintang.
As a photographer, Alvin captured more than just moments – his lens documented memories, emotions, and the deep cultural heritage of the Dayak people. He was especially inspired by the use of natural dyes in weaving, a beautiful craft passed down through generations.

For Owen, Sintang felt like home. He not only experienced life in the rumah panjang but also took on a new role as the sound technician for our theatre show, working closely with the STKIP tech team. Despite the challenges, it was a rewarding experience that highlighted the strength of collaboration.

Sharon was fascinated by the weaving process and the vibrant colors created from roots and leaves. Watching the villagers turn nature into art was a moment of pure awe – a reminder of how tradition and innovation can coexist beautifully.

Shamyra cherished the opportunity to connect through language, food, and performance. From exploring Bukit Kelam to enjoying cultural night performances and tasting local delights like risolles, every moment enriched her perspective as a language student.

This journey wasn’t just about discovering a new place – it was about understanding people, culture, and ourselves a little better. Thank you, Sintang, for the knowledge, the inspiration, and the memories we’ll carry with us forever.
