On 14 May 2025, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities had a courtesy visit to the Land and Survey Department Sarawak (Jabatan Tanah dan Survei – JTS). The visit was led by the Dean, Dr Kiky Kirina Hj Abdillah, and the group was warmly welcomed by Deputy Director (Management), Sr. Rozlan Hj Putit, and Deputy Director (Operation) Sr. Hjh Norlina Hj Ra’ee.

The visit served as a strategic platform to explore collaborative opportunities between FSSH and JTS, particularly in areas of mutual interest such as spatial planning, land governance, and community development. Discussions focused on potential joint research and consultancy projects, internship placements for students, industry exposure for academic staff, and the development of tailored training programs for JTS personnel.

This engagement reflects FSSH’s ongoing commitment to bridging academic knowledge with real-world applications. By fostering strong linkages with government agencies like JTS, FSSH aims to enhance the relevance and impact of its academic programs while contributing meaningfully to policy support and public sector innovation.

Dr Kiky emphasized the importance of such collaborations in promoting knowledge exchange and developing human capital in Sarawak. The visit aligns with the faculty’s mission to inspire transformation and act as a partner for social change through teaching, research, and active engagement with key stakeholders.
The Faculty looks forward to further strengthening its relationship with JTS through formalized partnerships and impactful initiatives that benefit students, staff, and the broader Sarawak community.
FSSH – A partner for social change!
