On 14 May 2025, a group of students from the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Student Chapter, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), conducted an industrial visit to Sejingkat Power Corporation Kuching, Sarawak. The visit was supervised by Ts. Dr. Yonis Buswig, a senior lecturer at the faculty.
The highlight of the visit was the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facility integrated with an advanced Intelligent Energy Management System (EMS). The students were given a comprehensive tour and briefing on the operational principles, design features, and the role of BESS in enhancing grid stability and supporting renewable energy integration.

The visit provided valuable exposure to cutting-edge energy storage technologies and real-world applications of EMS in power plant operations. Students were particularly impressed by the seamless automation and real-time monitoring capabilities of the system, reinforcing their classroom knowledge with practical insights.

This visit not only deepened their understanding of modern power systems but also inspired future engineers to contribute to the evolving landscape of sustainable and intelligent energy solutions.
