On February 26, 2025, the Faculty of Resource Science and Technology (FRST) at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) held the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) Talk. It was carried out by Ts. Gs. Dr. Kamalul Adham, a Senior Lecturer at FRST, alongside Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lesley Maurice Bilung, the Deputy Dean for Industry and Community Engagement, and Prof. Dr. Faisal Anwarali Khan, the Dean of FRST. Ts. Br. Gs. Noor Nikman Salleh and Ts Ir. Ahmad Zawawi facilitated the talk, while the keynote address was delivered by Ts. Liew Foong Ching, a Higher Education Officer.

The session emphasised the importance of Professional Technologist (PT) and Certified Technician (CT) credentials, underlining their essential roles in career advancement and professional acknowledgement. Furthermore, both facilitators and the speaker offered valuable insights into the certification process. About 35 participants, including lecturers and technical staff, engaged in discussions during the session that covered:
1. MBOT Registration Process – Detailed instructions for registering for Ts. and Tc. Certification.
2. Professional Assessment Preparation – Key strategies for effectively navigating the evaluation process.
3. Professional Development Strategies – The advantages of obtaining MBOT certification for career growth, mentorship, and networking opportunities.
By promoting MBOT accreditation among staff members, this initiative nurtures a culture of lifelong learning and professional growth, further solidifying UNIMAS’s position as a leader in developing industry-ready professionals. The event underscored the university’s commitment to bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry needs, ensuring that its educators and staff stay ahead in technological and professional developments while also facilitating improved professional outcomes and industry collaboration.
