From May 16 to 18, 2025, students from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) took part in a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Beach Cleaning Programme at Bako National Park in Kuching. This initiative was part of the STH3324: Park and Wildlife Management course, aimed at giving students hands-on experience in conservation efforts.

The programme involved 58 third-year Animal Resource Science and Management (ARSM) students (56 Local, 2 International), accompanied by three lecturers, three support staff, and five postgraduate students. Over three days and two nights, participants engaged in activities focused on environmental education, including hands-on learning about biodiversity, park management, and conservation challenges.

One of the main highlights was the beach cleanup activity, during which students managed to collect a total of 224 kilograms of waste. This effort not only contributed to the preservation of the park’s natural environment but also reinforced the importance of environmental stewardship among future conservation practitioners.

Over five plastic bags were utilised to gather litter from the beach.
The group that collected the most litter was the winner.
