Kota Samarahan, Sarawak – Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) is pleased to announce that all students enrolled in its Bachelor of Nursing with Honours programme have successfully passed the Malaysian Nursing Board Examination (Lembaga Jururawat Malaysia) conducted on 19 February 2025 at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. This exceptional accomplishment underscores the university’s steadfast commitment to producing proficient and high-caliber nursing graduates.
The Malaysian Nursing Board Examination is an obligatory requirement for nursing graduates to obtain their practicing license. The exemplary pass rate is a testament to the dedication and excellence of the Nursing Department and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in preparing students for professional practice.
Since its inception in 1995, the Bachelor of Nursing with Honours programme at UNIMAS has produced highly skilled nurses who have served globally. The success of this programme is largely attributed to the department’s experienced lecturers and clinical instructors, who possess extensive clinical expertise and deliver an industry-relevant curriculum. Their commitment and guidance are fundamental to this achievement.

Over the years, the programme has nurtured numerous nursing leaders and academicians who have become pivotal figures in advancing the nursing profession in Malaysia. This four-year programme not only emphasizes academic excellence and clinical skills but also instills strong character, critical thinking abilities, wisdom, and entrepreneurial acumen among students.
The UNIMAS Nursing programme adheres to the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) standards and undergoes continuous curriculum review to ensure its relevance to the ever-evolving healthcare industry. This rigorous academic and professional training has rendered UNIMAS nursing graduates highly sought after by both local and international healthcare industries, including in Singapore. Many students have even received full scholarships from industry partners as early as their first year of study.

Furthermore, industry engagement initiatives such as the Career, Recruitment and Scholarship (CARES) Fair have significantly contributed to maintaining the employability rate of UNIMAS nursing graduates, which has never fallen below 95%. Strategic collaborations through Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with major healthcare industries in Malaysia have provided students with real-world exposure via clinical attachments in leading hospitals and healthcare facilities.
UNIMAS remains resolute in its mission to produce high-caliber, contemporary nursing graduates who are equipped to support the nation’s vision of building a healthier, stronger, and more competitive society.
