Kota Samarahan, 7 December 2024 – The Top Coder Challenge 2024, a university-level programming competition, was held at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FCSIT), UNIMAS.

It was organized by the Data Science Association Malaysia and Thulija Technologies, with support from MDEC, the event attracted top coding talents from universities across the nation.

The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Jane Labadin, Dean of FCSIT, and Mr. Gopalakrishnan Kolandai, CEO of Thulija Technologies.

Prior to the competition, an extensive online workshop was conducted from 25–28 November 2024, which was made compulsories for all participants.

The workshop aimed to prepare the contestants with foundational knowledge and techniques required for the competition, ensuring a level playing field for all.

There were 20 participants involved in this competition, primarily Year 1 and Year 2 students from FCSIT, UNIMAS.

They competed in intense programming rounds that tested their problem-solving and coding skills.

The competition celebrated exceptional talent with the following winners:

Top 1: Dexter Skudd Anak John Rizal and Samson Riger Anak Samuel Kruger.

Top 2: Evanuell Ak Nicolas Kendy and Dyril Chua Khang Jun.

Top 3: Khoo Chee Guo and Chai Ming Yang.

Top 4: Hafizh Armansyah bin Mohd Azmi and Nurzamarul Islam bin Nurddin.

Top 5: Nur Iman Alia binti Mohd Azri and Nurdina binti Zamri.

Events like the Top Coder Challenge provide students with valuable exposure to industry-level programming challenges and standards.  

By participating, students gain hands-on experience with real-world problem-solving, teamwork, and the application of programming skills under competitive conditions.

This helps bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements, equipping students to excel in their future careers.
