28th September 2024, KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) organized a Social Responsibility Program (USR) at SMK Kota Samarahan. The program was designed to foster stronger ties between the university and the local community while providing practical and impactful benefits to the students.
The highlight of the event was the enhancement of the school’s computer lab facilities, where students were given hands-on experience in installing network cables, setting up Wi-Fi, and computer upgrading. These activities not only improved the school’s infrastructure but also empowered the students by engaging them directly in digital technology.
The program aimed to achieve two key objectives:
- Education and Skills Development:
By introducing students to technical skills in digital technology, the program sought to boost their knowledge and capabilities. Additionally, it aimed to ignite students’ interest in the digital field, encouraging more of them to consider enrolling in UNIMAS’ new Foundation in Computing program. - Community Engagement and Social Well-being:
The program served as a platform for UNIMAS to strengthen its connection with the local community through meaningful volunteer activities, contributing to the broader social good.
This initiative brought tremendous benefits to SMK Kota Samarahan, exposing students to cutting-edge technologies and motivating them to explore career pathways in the digital world. By providing these opportunities, UNIMAS is helping to prepare students for global competitiveness in the digital age.
The event was officiated by YB Datuk Hajah Rubiah Binti Wang, Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development. Also present was YBhg.
