On 20 August 2024, Moto Moto team from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) achieved remarkable success at the Digital Innovation Creativepreneur (DICE) 2.0 competition, held at the V Clubhouse in Nilai. Moto Moto won the Gold Award in the Digital Games category and secured 3rd place for the Most Informative Booth. This success was made possible with substantial support from the UNIMAS Entrepreneurship Centre (UEC).
This success is the result of the dedication of the team led by Ts. Dr Suriati Khartini Jali, who served as mentor from Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology overseeing the development of the project. The team, consisting of Wan Mohamad Haziq Bin Wan Alwi, Ronad Jedol Dayou, Chemmyline Daymon and Mishellyiana Su, demonstrated remarkable creativity and dedication in developing their standout project. Additionally, effective budget management, supported by the UNIMAS Entrepreneurship Centre (UEC), played a crucial role in Moto Moto’s achievements.
Moto Moto developed “Aram Makai”, a digital game that addresses a significant gap in Kuching’s competitive food industry. This innovative game offers an interactive and immersive experience that not only educates players about Sarawak’s rich food culture but also imparts essential business skill in a fun and engaging way. The project aligns with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, which emphasizes inclusive and quality education.
DICE 2.0 involved the participation of 250 students from public and private universities, international institutions, polytechnic, and community colleges, showcasing 50 creative content projects. The program was powered by strategic collaborations with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), MOHE Strategic Planning Division; the Centre for Careers, Technopreneurs and Smart Networking of Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin; and partners which include Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd, National Film Development Corporation Malaysia, KRU Studio, National Higher Education Fund Corporation, and Warnakala Studios (Didi & Friends).
The competition featured four main categories: animation, short films, interactive media applications (AR/VR), and digital games. The closing ceremony of DICE 2.0 was graced by YB Datuk Ts. Mustapha Sakmud, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, who lauded the innovative contributions of the participants.
Moto Moto’s achievements not only highlight the creative and technical prowess of UNIMAS students but also demonstrate the university’s commitment to supporting innovative educational tools and entrepreneurial initiatives.
