Kota Samarahan, Malaysia – 20th August 2024: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) has further solidified its position as a leader in regional academic collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) anchored by Faculty of Economics and Business with 24 prominent Indonesian business schools.

The signing ceremony, held at the UNIMAS campus, marks a significant milestone in the university’s ongoing efforts to enhance cross-border academic partnerships.

In a separate event, UNIMAS also conducted an MOU exchange with Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), reflecting the university’s strategic commitment to expanding its international collaborations.

Prof. Dr. Rossazana Ab Rahim, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UNIMAS, officiated both ceremonies. “These MOUs represent more than just formal agreements; they are a testament to the strong and enduring partnership between Malaysia and Indonesia. Through these partnerships, we are opening new avenues for joint research, academic exchanges, and collaborative programs that will greatly benefit our students, faculty, and the wider community,” said Prof. Dr. Rossazana.

The MOU events align with UNIMAS’s Strategic Focus (SF4) on Global Prominence, which underscores three key strategic commitments:

  1. Strengthening Global Branding: The partnerships will enhance UNIMAS’s international reputation by fostering relationships with leading academic institutions in Indonesia.
  2. Enhancing International Academic Capacity: These collaborations will lead to the development of joint research initiatives and academic programs, boosting the academic capacity of both UNIMAS and its Indonesian partners.
  3. Enhancing the University International Support Ecosystem: The agreements will contribute to a more robust international support system at UNIMAS, facilitating smoother academic exchanges and collaborative efforts.

The ceremonies were attended by representatives from all 24 Indonesian business schools, Universitas Sebelas Maret, UNIMAS faculty members, and other distinguished guests. The collaborations are set to begin immediately, with several projects already in the planning stages.
