Qadim Hub, a part of the UNESCO Knowledge for Change (K4C) Hub Consortium, showcased its commitment to sustainable community transformation at the 1st International Conference on Renewable Energy and Sustainable Community Transformation (ICORESCT), hosted by Universitas Balikpapan, Indonesia on 6 & 7 October 2023.
This conference, co-organized by Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), convened a diverse audience of academics, researchers, professionals, students, and stakeholders. Qadim Hub made a significant impact at ICORESCT with two distinguished invited speakers. Mdm Noraziah Abdul Wahab, Director of the University Sustainability Centre (USC), UNIMAS, spoke on “Sustainability Leadership and Transformational Social Change.” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rafeah Wahi, Qadim Hub Coordinator, USC, UNIMAS, addressed the audience on “Community-Based Participatory Research for Sustainable Community Transformation.” These presentations emphasized Qadim Hub’s dedication to community empowerment, sustainability, and the vital role of Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) in driving meaningful change.
ICORESCT provided a platform for thought leaders to discuss and present the latest advancements in creating a sustainable global society. Topics ranged from renewable material science and energy research to sustainable community transformation through CBPR and sustainability leadership.
Qadim Hub’s active involvement in ICORESCT reinforces its mission to empower communities, advance ethical research, and create lasting, positive impacts. The conference enabled a rich exchange of ideas, research findings, and innovative solutions aimed at achieving broader sustainable goals.
The event not only celebrated academic excellence but also included a tour of Indonesia’s new capital city (IKN), offering attendees a firsthand look at innovative, sustainable urban development in IKN Nusantara. Qadim Hub was honoured to be a part of this landmark conference and to contribute to the global discourse on sustainable community transformation.
