SINGAPORE, 5th October 2023 – The Centre for Applied Learning & Multimedia (CALM) from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) recently marked its esteemed presence at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. They were invited to the prestigious NTU Learning and Teaching Conference titled “From Good to Great 2023: Harnessing Emerging Technologies in Higher Education,” which ran from the 3rd to the 4th of October. This event brought together luminaries from the world of education, discussing innovations, knowledge, and best practices.
Representatives from CALM included Dr. Nor Mazlina Ghazali, Deputy Director of Teaching Excellence, and Ts Dr. Dayang Azra Awang Mat, Coordinator for the Academic Training Unit. Both have garnered acclaim for their commitment to elevating the standards of teaching and their innovative pedagogical approaches.
However, the conference itself wasn’t the sole highlight. Behind the closed doors, vibrant discussions were brewing between the Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Pedagogy at NTU and CALM UNIMAS, signaling a robust future collaboration. Among the notable initiatives set for 2024 is the Global Workshop in Teaching & Learning. Hosted by UNIMAS, this event is anticipated to serve as a melting pot for global educators. Furthermore, the two institutions will also be introducing the SoTL International Grant, a collaborative venture designed to champion scholarship in teaching and learning. Not stopping there, they are also laying the groundwork for a Teaching Excellence Award Collaboration, an initiative to recognize and honor outstanding contributions in the domain of higher education.
“We are immensely excited about our future collaborations with NTU,” expressed Dr. Mazlina. “2024 is set to redefine excellence in higher education.” With the momentum from these plans, the future seems bright for higher education. The partnership between CALM and NTU promises to usher in an era of innovation and collaboration, shaping the future of teaching and learning on a global scale.
